Save Lennox

This dog is due to die this week.  He has been on "death row" in Belfast for two years.  He has done nothing wrong, but the "powers that be" think he looks like a pitbull so they are going to kill him.

It has caused outrage throughout the world and a determination to boycott Belfast should this murder go ahead.

If you are not familiar with the entire story THIS ARTICLE will tell you all you need to know.  It also provides links to petition sites and email addresses, should you wish to join thousands across the world protesting at this injustice.

UPDATE.  The following status update on Facebook posted an hour ago by Victoria Stilwell who had offered to pay all costs to transport Lennox to the US to live in her sanctuary:

"Just got confirmation that despite other options, pleas for mercy from hundreds of thousands and personal appeals from the First Minister, the BCC killed Lennox this morning. I'm sickened, outraged, and devastated for the Barnes family."

Rest in Peace Lennox, knowing that thousands of  caring people tried for two years to save you.

Belfast City Council I hope you can live with what you have done.  If there is a God, may he forgive you.

  1. Typical beaurocracy...get it wrong, refuse to back down.
It makes me think that sometimes violence is the answer...because all reasonable ways of dealing with the problem are shut down.

    1. It's wrong on so many levels Fly. A family pet who did no-one any harm died because of some idiotic law that condemns specific breeds.

When will people realise that some breeds are only considered dangerous because of their moronic owners? I believe any dog, regardless of breed, can become a loving harmless pet so long as they are given love and treated with respect.

My heart aches for Lennox's family who have fought for two years to have their dog returned to them.

  2. OMG!!!! My heart aches for the Lennox Family. It's true the dog behaves like it behaves because of the 'moronic' owners like Ayak said. I've had numerous rescue dogs for their whole lives and most were given up due to bad behaviour or whatever else. But through the years they were loving and loyal dogs and most of them I had surpassed to the age of 15 years old and up...and yes it took some time but in the end it was worth it.....I feel so bad for the Lennox family.
Here we have a law where the Pit Bull has to have a muzzle and that's fine and they do but they don't murder them....
Thanks for posting this and bringing it to our attention.

  3. Erica, DNA actually proved he was not pitbull. There will be a terrible backlash from this decision by Belfast City Council. Lennox may have been murdered but it won't stop the campaigning by hundreds of thousands of people who know this is so wrong. The fight has only just begun and will continue to make sure that this practise is stopped.

  4. Yes indeed, his only crime was to look like a pit bull. I believe he was a pit bull labrador cross. May those responsible for him being euthanized hang their heads in shame. Makes me ashamed to be Northern Irish :( Rip Lennox. Margaret x

    1. Thankyou for commenting Margaret. I think Lennox will become the symbol for the fight to stop this happening. Sometimes I am ashamed to be part of the human race :-(
