I may be gone some time

Just a brief post to let you know that I am having internet connection problems at the moment.

My connection goes on and off every few minutes and I can't seem to find out what's wrong.  I have reported the problem to TTNet and they are looking into it, but I suspect it may well have something to do with the counterfeit Windows programme on my computer, because within the last day or so the pop-up boxes telling me it was fake, which appeared every few minutes...suddenly disappeared.  Everything then seemed to be working normally until yesterday afternoon when the connection problem started.

I am typing this in stages,  whilst I'm connected, then hoping that I can post it.

Thank goodness my netbook from eBay is waiting for me in England when I go on 14th.  I may have to just suffer internet withdrawal symptoms until then!  How on earth did we cope before the internet?

Update:  No sooner had I posted the above than TTNet have proved that for a change they are really on the ball.  Customer Service phoned me and texted at the same time to say the problem had been reported to the local office.  Five minutes later, internet was reconnected and the local office called me to check it was working.  Then a couple of minutes later, another text message from Customer Service informing me that the problem had been resolved...and to have a nice day!  I will now!

  3. Happy to hear that the problem is resolved.....hate when that happens. Yes...what did we do without the internet????? I can't do my banking, emails...etc......my neighbour is on another internet connector, so if we get desperate we can tap into each others which we have done before.

Excited about going back home, and did you start to pack????

    1. Well I'm not physically packing yet Erica, but I'm mentally doing it. Just wondering what the weather will be like in the UK and trying to decide what clothes to take. But I have another week yet so plenty of time xx

  4. And to think I used to find it wonderful that I could telephone the U.K. from France!
So glad that, for once, you did not have a long drawn out saga with no results!

    1. Yes it makes a pleasant change to get things fixed immediately Fly.

I was just thinking about when I was a child and we didn't even have a phone but had to use the red box at the end of the road. How times change!

  5. So glad to read your update - it's so frustrating when the technology somehow fails. I do share that feeling though I like to convince myself I'm not totally reliant on being connected. (In fact, I am a hopeless addict, but don't tell anyone else!)

Hope this means we'll catch you again before you leave for your UK visit!

  7. So glad to hear they fixed it quickly. I (H) get twitchy when our Internet goes down.
Right now our only problem with TTnet is that they haven't sent us a bill in a while (since we upgraded the package) and I'm starting to fret about whether we haven't paid something they think we should have paid.

    1. Hilary if you have a Turkish bank account that does online banking you could just enter your TTNet account number and it will bring up the amount due and you can pay it. If not, I'd be inclined to go into the TTNet office and check what you owe. I haven't had regular bills from them for years..they seem to be very unreliable with sending bills out.

    2. There is nothing on the TTNet account number. I've checked. I'm wondering whether they changed our account number when we upgraded the package. We gave up on paper bills. We had email bills and they sent a summary to the mobile.... Will go to check if we don't get a bill in a couple of days...

    3. I suppose that's possible Hilary although we've upgraded a couple of times and our account number has never changed. I think it's a good idea to check anyway.

And by the way from late last night and at the moment (this morning) I have the internet connection problem back again. Oh dear, another call to TTNet...here we go again.

    1. Yes me too Perpetua. It's still playing up. I was told by TTNet that it's the splitter so I bought a new one yesterday which worked fine for a while, but then I kept losing connection again. Goodness knows what the problem is.
