Dursune

Because Mr A is around at the moment, he has been able to take some photos on his phone, upload them to Facebook and I've been able to copy them for my blog.

I wanted to tell you about my neighbour, Dursune.

She is considered by some (my FIL included) to be very grumpy and selfish.  I find her quite the opposite.  I absolutely adore her.  She lives next door to us, on her own, with her animals.  She works so hard every day to survive.

But the thing I most love and respect about Dursune is the way in which she cares for her animals.  I have never seen such healthy cows, donkeys and chickens in Turkey as those that belong to her.

Here are some photos, taken this morning.

Dursune's donkey. Isn't she beautiful?

    1. She brushes the donkey every day Janice. Her coat is lovely and she is very friendly, and of course she isn't a prostitute! :-)

  2. Love the photo's of the lil' animals. The Donkey is so adorable, my favourite animal.
I don't think Dursune is grumpy and selfish....anybody who looks after her animals like you mentioned so well has a heart of gold. She's just a person who is trying to survive on her own and working very hard day to day. I think that if she was married to one of those men who sit around 'all day'' at the Coffee Shops doing nothing but playing Backgammon she would be even more grumpier. LOL.

Have a great day and thanks for sharing your story and pics I enjoyed it very much....because if I ever win the Lottery I always said I would get a farm with my favourite animals that Dursune has. :-)

  3. Wouldn't blame her being grumpy with FIL!
If the rest of her animals are as sleek as these two she must be really caring.
(Has she called the Jandarma yet?)

  4. Your neighbour and her animals look so lovely!

A friend told us of a Turkish saying "You don't buy a house, you buy your neighbours" - Good neighbours have value beyond price. Ours are also lovely, though they do not have a donkey.

  5. She's obviously brushing her donkey too much and making her irresistible to the the local poor male donkeys who, not being used to such beauty, can't control themselves.
