Summer in October

Summer started a little later this year.   Usually by this time the temperatures have dropped and I am busy packing away my summer clothes.

October arrived and summer continued with temperatures in the 30s.   Today's forecast is 32 degrees...tomorrow, the same.  The rest of the month will remain warm with temperatures in the mid 20s ..even towards the end of October.   There may be the odd thunderstorm, but overall it looks like summer will still be around for some time yet.

Very fortunate for those people who booked holidays at this time, when prices are lower and the crowds have disappeared.

It's a great time to be in Turkey.

  1. The weather is out of kilter here too....we should be in the worst of the rainy season by now...but after the regulation afternoon rain in September now we're only getting a few drops although it is overcast.
The thunderstorms are rolling in as usual...but no rain....so, as with Turkey, people booking off peak holidays are getting a bonus.

    1. It's very strange Fly. We also had a terrific thunder and lightening storm a couple of evenings ago but not one drop of rain.

  2. Sounds like a nice Fall so far....here we are going to be in the low teens like now it is 11 deg. F......not cold b/c it's very sunny. Last winter we got one snowfall in Toronto which is rare...and I saw on the news in Western Canada they have snow blizzards for two days EEEKKKSSS!!!! But I'm really far.... so, I won't worry. I'm coming to Izmir in March...... I hope the weather will be nice and not rainy.
We have Thanksgiving this weekend here so I hope the weather holds up.....for all those people enjoying their turkey dinners and traveling......Take care and enjoy the warm weather. :-)

    1. Hi Erica. Well March can be quite pleasant but it's difficult to predict with the change in weather these days but I hope it stays good for your visit.

Have a happy Thanksgiving weekend xx

  3. Isn't it a gorgeous Fall? It seems we've had early cold snaps the last few years. Granted, I keep failing miserably to dress properly for the day ahead, but I'd rather this nice mild fabulousness over the blustery rainy cold that lasts from the end of August till June, like we've had the last few years...

    1. Stranger. The weather is glorious and I am enjoying it. So nice to have sunshine during the day and low temps at night so we can sleep.

  4. When I worked in tourism (1981 to 2000) our boating and villa season always continued to the last weekend in October and the weather was generally good. Don't know about the past 12 years but maybe they were a blip and now we're returning to normal. My parents are here until 19th so I hope it stays good until then.

    1. BtoB. I'm sure when I came here 14 years ago the season was longer than it is now. It seems that it has gradually changed over the years. I too hope that this is a return to normal. The forecast looks good for the rest of your parents' stay.

  7. We are really enjoying the warm weather. Though I suspect that the farmers are not happy with the lack of rain.

  9. My sister and her husband will be delighted as they left yesterday for a week's holiday touring Western Turkey. :-) Here in Wales it's grey, misty, murky, damp and chilly. Sigh....

    1. Your sister has picked a superb time for touring Turkey, Perpetua. Most of the crowds of tourists will have gone and they will I'm sure have a wonderful time.
